Customize Your Public Health Education

Choose from Five Public Health Concentrations

Biostatistics and Epidemiology

Use statistical procedures, techniques and methodologies to identify health trends. Determine what causes disease and injury. Investigate and identify the trends that influence disease. Evaluate preventive measures and efficacy of new treatments.

Community Health Promotion

Utilize health education and specific interventions to tackle public health problems and facilitate behavioral and environmental changes that improve health. Deliver programs and interventions conducive to health improvement of individuals and communities.

Global Health

Build leadership skills and examine the impacts of globalization and culture on public health. Identify how ethics and human rights shape global health research, programs and policies. Learn to design, monitor and evaluate programs and work with international agencies to strengthen public health at local, national and international levels.

Health Services and Policy

Examine the political, economic and social factors that impact the development and implementation of health care laws and regulations. Learn the role that health care organizations, nonprofits, advocacy groups and government agencies play in creating effective public health strategies at the local, state and federal levels. Develop analytical skills that can be utilized in multiple capacities throughout the policymaking arena.

Generalist

A customizable concentration for students with advanced graduate or professional degrees or those currently enrolled in an accredited U.S.-based medical degree program. Students in this concentration complete the core courses, and their remaining courses are planned with their faculty advisor based on their interests.

In as little as 4 four semesters (Summer, Fall, Spring, Summer), you can earn the only MPH in the nation that’s delivered by a top-ranked medical school. The USC online MPH accelerated fast-track option covers the same material from the same world-renowned faculty as the on-campus program, but at an accelerated pace for full-time students. It’s an ideal choice for medical school applicants during their gap year and can be completed in four semesters.
